The year of the Tiger
Debbie White • Jan 18, 2022

The Chinese zodiac is based on a 12 year cycle, with each year represented by an animal that brings a different quality of energy to the year.  This can give us insight on where the path of least resistance lies or ways to work around possible roadblocks in the year ahead.

Yang Water Tiger 2022

Get ready for change!

The year of the Tiger is quickly approaching and officially arrives on the Chinese lunar new year of Feb 1st.  Energies tend to flow in and out like waves, and so you may already have been noticing this change in quality of energy as a change in point of view or attitude on things.

Last year was the yin metal Ox. Yin Metal brings a very introspective quality, a time for refinement and reassessing beliefs. It is a very slow and inward type of energy.  It was certainly a period for adjustments and evaluation of boundaries. The metal energy is all about boundaries, and critical thinking.

In 2022, we have a real shift with the yang water tiger.  Yang water is a very active and fast moving type of energy, combined with the competitiveness and fierceness of the tiger, there can be an overarching theme of dramatic change and expansion.  It can also be seen as a time to “put out there” all the refinement of skills and knowledge acquired during the year of the Ox. A year to go for it, try something different and step into your power fully. The tiger encompasses the qualities of a loyal leader with much determination. Many will have the support of this energy in overcoming fears and finally breaking through.

The undertone of yang water can be like a very strong current, so ensure you are clear on where you want to go before stepping into the stream.  Water can bring financial or career success, but also activates that which you put your attention on.

Water can also represent the emotions, and so keeping the ego in check will be paramount. Follow the heart/mind and let your intuition guide you. Reflect on where you would like change to occur in your life, lean into it, and enjoy the ride!

" During Spring, thousands of different types of flowers wake up. Your heart can bloom too. You can let your heart open to the world. Love is possible - don't be afraid. Love is indispensable in life, and if you have suffered in the past by love, you can learn how to love again." Thich Nhat Hanh

Feng shui is a practice to bring more harmony and alignment into a physical space but ultimately, it is with the purpose of feeling more harmony and alignment in our lives. There is no Feng shui without people to animate and move the Qi or energy! The house is the yin aspect, and the people living there are the yang. We are intrinsically linked to our environment.
